A Never
Changing God in an
Ever-Changing
World
"I
the Lord do not change" Malachi 3:6
"The one
unchangeable certainty is that is that nothing is
certain or unchangeable."
While we live and breathe on this earth, 6.7
million of us human beings show the same
inevitability: We all have to face change.
The same truth applies to those who existed in the
past, and the same will be true to everyone who
will be born in the future. Wealth, youth, talent,
intelligence, popularity, success, ambition, or
good intentions don't make you immune to change.
Let's observe five approaches to
change:
1. PEOPLE
WATCH THINGS HAPPEN
This is a
passive, indifferent approach in which people
don't react to change because they have no real
interest in it or its impact.
2. PEOPLE
LET THINGS HAPPEN
This is a
resigned, defeated, or even fatalistic approach. A
person may lash out against change, but
ultimately, his or her mind-set is "There is
nothing I can do about this."
3. PEOPLE
ASK: "WHAT HAPPENED?"
This is
an inquisitive response, but it doesn't go much
further than curiosity or an interest in the
latest gossip.
4. PEOPLE
DEFY WHAT HAPPENED
This is
when someone tries to resist inevitable change in
his or her life, wasting valuable time and energy
in the process.
5. PEOPLE
MAKE THINGS HAPPEN
This is a
proactive response by people that either alters
the quality or degree of change that happens to a
person or that initiates new change. Proactive
people are the ones who usually succeed in
life--against all odds. These type of people could
be called "world changers".
The only
way for you to move forward is to initiate desired
change and to address unwanted change
constructively. In this vast changing world, God
has given us hope and assurance that He will never
change.
Romans 8:35 "Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"
Romans 8:37 "Nay, in all
things we are more than conquerors through Him
that loved us."
Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ,
the same yesterday, today, and forever."
